TUCKER ARRIVES & KATHY NUSS BENEFIT

TUCKER HAS ARRIVED!
August 16, 2012

Tucker is such a handsome boy!
AKC registered as Boldwyn Sandgreg Definition
born July 25, 2011

Well, almost two weeks after losing our beloved Gus to liver disease, the Lord has blessed us with Tucker!
Tuck is a 19 lb. liveley wheaten colored Scottish Terrier
and he has already stolen our hearts.
Gus can never be replaced, he will forever be in our hearts
but the huge void he left is gradually filling up with love for our new little guy.

It's been 10 years since we had a puppy in the house and
we have had to learn fast once again...
Tuck is curious, lively and will do just about anything for a cookie!
Cookies come in very handy, let me tell you...

Our wonderful daughter-in-law, Kathy Nuss, continues to be in a hospital in San Francisco battling liver disease and various complications. Next week she will have dialysis and most likely her MELD score will bump up to status that will enable them to take offers for a liver for a transplant for her.

Kathy was an IV drug/alcohol user but 11 years ago, she turned her life
around and since then she has helped hundreds of people in her community as a drug/alcohol counsellor at Empire Recovery in Redding, CA.
This is her life work...to help people...to help them get out of their addictions to a healing, healthy life. Her goal is to get well and get back to helping people as soon as she can. That is our prayer also.

There is a benefit fund online for her...
if any of you have dealt with or know someone who has dealt with a serious illness like this, you know that insurance doesn't cover everything.
Travel expenses (they live 4 hours away from S.F.), drugs, etc
just aren't covered and times are tight for everyone.
Most of us live paycheck to paycheck.
This on-line we-pay donation account is a blessing for Kat and our son, Drew.

After Kathy receives her transplant, drugs will be very expensive.
They are checking into every kind of agency/drug company
for assistance with the cost.

If you are inclined or know anyone that would be inclined to make a donation
our family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts!
God bless you.

GUS PASSED AWAY LAST WEEK

ANGUS NUSS
(Gyver's Shoot Straight, Have Faith)
2001-2012

A couple of posts ago I mentioned that our 10 year old scottie dog, Gus, was very ill with a failing liver. He passed away last Monday in my arms. The relationship with a family pet is a wonderful blessing from God. He gives us these little buddies to have as faithful companions. Gus was a little character and brought us so much joy and unconditional love. We miss him very much and there will always be a tender place in our hearts for him and many, many wonderful memories together.

Gus, we hope you're romping with your pals that went ahead of you.

OUR DAUGHTER-IN-LAW IS VERY ILL

Our daughter-in-law, Kathy, is very ill. She is in a hospital in San Francisco with a failing liver. She will most likely begin dialysis in the next few days as her kidneys are also very frail. Once she is dialysed she will be bumped to the liver transplant list.

Our family has been praying and praying for this wonderful woman. Up until she became too ill to work, she worked in the drug and alcohol rehab field helping people get their lives back on track. For the past 6 months or so she has been in and out of local hospitals and often sent down to San Francisco to the Californa Pacific Medical Center where the transplant will take place. At this point it doesn't look like she'll be going home until she gets a transplant. She is quite frail but has a strong faith and will to live. Besides a great husband (my son), she has a beautiful daughter and 3 year old grandson who is the apple of her eye..

Kathy's friend have started a donation fund for travel expenses and other costs not covered by insurance. If you are inclined to make a donation, here is the link and thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I'm back

I had all but forgotten about my blog, even forgot my password! I thought that I'd reactivate it and I'll try to post much more often. I just don't know if I have that much to say...but here's what has been happening in my life.

EBAY
I'm still selling on ebay all the time. Listing, listing, listing! I have three seller ID's now:

pamscottieboy --- all kinds of stuff
http://www.ebay.com/sch/pamscottieboy/m.html?item=330753252372&sspagename=STRK%3AMESOX%3AIT&rt=nc&_trksid=p3984.m1559.l2649&_trksid=p4340.l2562

the_vintage_nut --- mostly vintage and new lingerie

guytique --- stuff for men and all kinds of other things, branching out now
http://www.ebay.com/sch/guytique/m.html?item=280908650530&sspagename=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&rt=nc&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649&_trksid=p4340.l2562

ETSY
I recently opened a shop on etsy. What an interesting venue, have you looked at it? Truly an amazing variety of handmade items and vintage stuff. I love how you can put together a "treasury" of 12 items for sale that you make into a "theme". I enjoy looking at other people's treasuries too. Fascinating what interests people.

Here is a link to some of the things I'm selling right now on etsy

On a personal note our scottie dog is not well...he has his good days and bad. He has a failing liver. We are just loving him and cherishing the time we have with left with him. He's the sweetest little ole man.

Our daughter-in-law is not well either...seriously not well. Lots and lots of prayers needed for her. She's such a wonderful woman and has helped so many people in the recovery field. It's such a helpless feeling to be so far away...

Something very cool happened recently. A second cousin (?), Anne, who lives in Liverpool, UK found me via ancestry.com through my step-brother! It has been delightful emailing back and forth with her. We have been filling in the gaps of family information and sharing our day to day lives with each other. Isn't life interesting? Really a blessing to be in touch with a bit of family on the other side of the pond.

Have a safe weekend and a wonderful 4th of July. We have so much to be thankful for living in this country, despite what anyone says, this is a great country and I'm so very proud to be an American.

Where did 2010 go?

I haven't looked at my blog in a long time...in fact it's been over a year. I'm not selling in a shop anymore but I'm still selling on eBay! I just attained Power Seller and Top Seller status last week for pamscottieboy. Now that was a surprise, but a very nice one. I'm listing all kinds of stuff on that site...from vintage to new. Very ecclectic mix.

Vintage lingerie is what I'm selling on the_vintage_nut. Gee the old stuff is beautiful. Wonderful, enduring designs and fabrics. I mean, 50 years later, a Vanity Fair nightgown is as lovely as the day it was made. I really don't think that many of today's pieces will survive like that. Thank the Lord there are buyers out there that realize what a great value vintage is.

Best pick of 2010: Found at a thrift store, a large old Royal Copenhagen charger plate with a cow staring right at me for $45. Despite a chip on the bottom rim, it appraised at $1000-$1500 with a rarity value of 3 on a scale of 1-5. It was hand painted by Gotfred Rode. Holy cow, I couldn't be more tickled! We'll enjoy looking at it for a while and then put it up for sale and see how much moooolah (sorry, I couldn't resist that) it brings.

Best sale of 2010: one piece of vintage lingerie sold for $186. What can I say? There is a market out there...so here I am, come to the_vintage_nut and see what I'm offering.

Here is a gorgeous vintage OLGA underwire bra slip that I have listed right now. It really does have that WOW factor, doesn't it? Very sexy...Olga really knows women's figures and makes the most wonderful underthings! There's a bid on this piece and people are watching. The auction ends on Sunday evening.

This slip is from the 30's. I actually purchased it, matching tap panties and a nightgown in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada about five years ago. Paid a song for the pieces and have had them tucked away. This slip and the panties fit on the mannequin but the nightgown is quite small and she wouldn't fit. I have several other similar pieces that will go up for bids in the coming weeks.

These vintage men's nylon PJs are very cool and silky. Hard to find anymore and perfect for traveling. They will be listed next week.

My husband says that when he retires in a few years, he's going to work with me and be my shipping and accounting departments! I like the sound of that. The buying part continues to be the best and most addictive part of being a dealer. Even he's finding goodies now...we love the thrill of the hunt!!!

SO now you get the idea of what I've been doing and on that note I'm signing off but I'll be back soon to share more picks and sales...

OH, I forgot to tell you about my niece's blog! Her name is Sarah Klein and her blog is called The Hungry Bambino. She is a wonderful journalist, photographer, wife and mom who lives in Madison, WI. Her whole family cooks, cooks, cooks...good stuff, quality stuff, stuff with fancy foreign names! Don't let that put you off though...check out the blog and see for yourself. She is doing an amazing job with it! Proud of you Sarah!

Well, I haven't blogged for quite a while...we moved! We are now in Clearwater, FL and really like it. I love all the thrift shops and garage sales that are nearby. I'm closing down my space in the Peddler's Village in Dade City and have taken a space with a friend, Mary, in KNOT ON MAIN STREET in Dunedin, FL.

The shop is
an antiques mall and has just about anything and everything you can imagine! Our booth, BOOTH 39A, is pretty small but a good way to ease into our new surroundings. 6'x8' is tiny but we have crammed a ton of stuff into it and are adding items all the time. I purchased a cabinet and Mary's husband put locks on it so we can safely display our jewelry and better items.

We are working on getting more lighting and more stuff in there so t
his is just a start. The other dealers and the owners all seem very nice. Some of the dealers work the sales counter so we are getting to know them a bit better.

The shop is just south of Curlew, which is the road you take to get to Honeymoon Island! There's parking along the front of the building, restrooms and a really nice, relaxed atmosphere. You can spend hours wandering around. The shop did really well over the holidays and we are hoping it continues into the new year. So if you're down this way, stop by and check out KNOT ON MAIN STREET on Alternate Hwy 19!
