TUCKER ARRIVES & KATHY NUSS BENEFIT

TUCKER HAS ARRIVED!
August 16, 2012

Tucker is such a handsome boy!
AKC registered as Boldwyn Sandgreg Definition
born July 25, 2011

Well, almost two weeks after losing our beloved Gus to liver disease, the Lord has blessed us with Tucker!
Tuck is a 19 lb. liveley wheaten colored Scottish Terrier
and he has already stolen our hearts.
Gus can never be replaced, he will forever be in our hearts
but the huge void he left is gradually filling up with love for our new little guy.

It's been 10 years since we had a puppy in the house and
we have had to learn fast once again...
Tuck is curious, lively and will do just about anything for a cookie!
Cookies come in very handy, let me tell you...

Our wonderful daughter-in-law, Kathy Nuss, continues to be in a hospital in San Francisco battling liver disease and various complications. Next week she will have dialysis and most likely her MELD score will bump up to status that will enable them to take offers for a liver for a transplant for her.

Kathy was an IV drug/alcohol user but 11 years ago, she turned her life
around and since then she has helped hundreds of people in her community as a drug/alcohol counsellor at Empire Recovery in Redding, CA.
This is her life work...to help people...to help them get out of their addictions to a healing, healthy life. Her goal is to get well and get back to helping people as soon as she can. That is our prayer also.

There is a benefit fund online for her...
if any of you have dealt with or know someone who has dealt with a serious illness like this, you know that insurance doesn't cover everything.
Travel expenses (they live 4 hours away from S.F.), drugs, etc
just aren't covered and times are tight for everyone.
Most of us live paycheck to paycheck.
This on-line we-pay donation account is a blessing for Kat and our son, Drew.

After Kathy receives her transplant, drugs will be very expensive.
They are checking into every kind of agency/drug company
for assistance with the cost.

If you are inclined or know anyone that would be inclined to make a donation
our family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts!
God bless you.

GUS PASSED AWAY LAST WEEK

ANGUS NUSS
(Gyver's Shoot Straight, Have Faith)
2001-2012

A couple of posts ago I mentioned that our 10 year old scottie dog, Gus, was very ill with a failing liver. He passed away last Monday in my arms. The relationship with a family pet is a wonderful blessing from God. He gives us these little buddies to have as faithful companions. Gus was a little character and brought us so much joy and unconditional love. We miss him very much and there will always be a tender place in our hearts for him and many, many wonderful memories together.

Gus, we hope you're romping with your pals that went ahead of you.

OUR DAUGHTER-IN-LAW IS VERY ILL

Our daughter-in-law, Kathy, is very ill. She is in a hospital in San Francisco with a failing liver. She will most likely begin dialysis in the next few days as her kidneys are also very frail. Once she is dialysed she will be bumped to the liver transplant list.

Our family has been praying and praying for this wonderful woman. Up until she became too ill to work, she worked in the drug and alcohol rehab field helping people get their lives back on track. For the past 6 months or so she has been in and out of local hospitals and often sent down to San Francisco to the Californa Pacific Medical Center where the transplant will take place. At this point it doesn't look like she'll be going home until she gets a transplant. She is quite frail but has a strong faith and will to live. Besides a great husband (my son), she has a beautiful daughter and 3 year old grandson who is the apple of her eye..

Kathy's friend have started a donation fund for travel expenses and other costs not covered by insurance. If you are inclined to make a donation, here is the link and thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I'm back

I had all but forgotten about my blog, even forgot my password! I thought that I'd reactivate it and I'll try to post much more often. I just don't know if I have that much to say...but here's what has been happening in my life.

EBAY
I'm still selling on ebay all the time. Listing, listing, listing! I have three seller ID's now:

ETSY
I recently opened a shop on etsy. What an interesting venue, have you looked at it? Truly an amazing variety of handmade items and vintage stuff. I love how you can put together a "treasury" of 12 items for sale that you make into a "theme". I enjoy looking at other people's treasuries too. Fascinating what interests people.

Here is a link to some of the things I'm selling right now on etsy

On a personal note our scottie dog is not well...he has his good days and bad. He has a failing liver. We are just loving him and cherishing the time we have with left with him. He's the sweetest little ole man.

Our daughter-in-law is not well either...seriously not well. Lots and lots of prayers needed for her. She's such a wonderful woman and has helped so many people in the recovery field. It's such a helpless feeling to be so far away...

Something very cool happened recently. A second cousin (?), Anne, who lives in Liverpool, UK found me via ancestry.com through my step-brother! It has been delightful emailing back and forth with her. We have been filling in the gaps of family information and sharing our day to day lives with each other. Isn't life interesting? Really a blessing to be in touch with a bit of family on the other side of the pond.

Have a safe weekend and a wonderful 4th of July. We have so much to be thankful for living in this country, despite what anyone says, this is a great country and I'm so very proud to be an American.
